Free ACBA lecture, 3/2

March 1, 2007

Join the American College of the Building Arts and the Masters of the Building Arts Festival invites you to join them for a lecture by Marianne Cusato, the designer of the first Katrina Cottage. The Katrina Cottages are designed for displaced Katrina residents in the Gulf Coast area, and offer a dignified alternative to the FEMA trailer. It is a small permanent house, which is safe, affordable and can be assembled quickly. Architect and planner Andres Duany developed the concept for the Katrina Cottage just after Hurricane Katrina in response to the overwhelming need for emergency housing along the Gulf Coast. After a period of time, the cottage can become the first component of a larger house.

Learn more about this fascinating concept, the accolades it has received, and what’s next for Marianne Cusato Thursday, March 8th at 6:00 pm at 10 Storehouse Row.
