This just in from Bloomberg news – a major step to get The Navy Yard further national exposure!

April 10 (Bloomberg) — Cushman & Wakefield, the world’s second-largest real estate services company, was hired as the broker for commercial properties at a $2.7 billion redevelopment of a former U.S. Navy base in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Cushman, based in New York, will provide capital markets and valuation advisory services as well as brokerage services for apartments, stores, hotels and other commercial real estate at the 340-acre Navy Yard at Noisette, which is being built by closely held Noisette Co., the two companies said today in a statement.

The Navy Yard at Noisette is a planned community that will be built over 15 years. Noisette Co., based in North Charleston, has obtained permits for 6 million square feet of commercial development and as many as 5,600 units of housing at the site.

Cushman is the largest commercial real estate broker after Los Angeles-based CB Richard Ellis Group Inc., according to a 2006 ranking by National Real Estate Investor magazine. Ifil SpA, the holding company controlled by Italy’s Agnelli family, owns 71.5 percent of Cushman.
