News from “Fort Marshall”

August 29, 2007

Lifetime Television’s drama series “Army Wives” really took off over its first season this summer. This show is especially near and dear to us ‘Yarders’ hearts since most of the outdoor scenes were shot right here at the Navy Yard. Distracting at times (see photo), but always exciting; especially when we hear news like this that Executive Co-Producer Harry Bring sent along this morning:

Army Wives had a great season finale, bringing in a series high 4.1 million viewers. Wives also posted a 3.0 W25-54 coverage area rating, its highest in 8 weeks. Versus its season average, Wives grew one- to three-tenths of a rating point. As usual, Wives brought in its own audience and grew +3/+4 women shares over its lead-in (+80% W18-49 ratings growth).

Army Wives was the #2 cable show of the week in W25-54 (behind The Closer) and placed #3 in W18-49 (MTV’s The Hills and TNT’s Closer were #1 and #2).

Army Wives was Sunday night’s #1 cable telecast among W18-49 and W25-54.

– Season 1 of Army Wives crushed Lifetime’s deliveries in the Sunday 10P hour, at least doubling the prior time period average this season and posting monster gains of +170% to +200% over year-ago levels.

Army Wives, Lifetime’s highest-rated series ever, had a sizable advantage over previous network hits The Division and Strong Medicine. Compared to their first year marks, Wives grew +39% in W18-49.
