Just how big are those lakes going to be?!?

January 16, 2008

At January’s Knowledge at the Navy Yard, our urban architect Harry Gordon used graphical renderings and engineering plans to show attendees what changes will be taking place at the Navy Yard throughout 2008. Harry talked about how stormwater will be managed at the Navy Yard through a series of basins, which will be placed where a large swath of parking lots currently exists. The bodies of water, called “Powerhouse Basins” for their placement in front of the historic Powerhouse building, will allow for an on-site “cleansing” of all runoff water, as well as create a great amenity for public use.

Check out a portion of Harry’s presentation below. Because I couldn’t figure out how to turn the sound on, you can’t hear Harry, but I’ve done a voice-over which hopefully will explain what Harry’s talking about!
