The Homecoming Statue…and???

January 26, 2010

The Statue simply known as the Homecoming by Stanley Bleifled sits overlooking the Cooper River at Riverfront Park. The statue expresses joy of a reunion between a family when the sailor returns from a long time at sea.  This statue is part of a larger memorial found at Riverfront Park that serves as a tribute to the Greater Charleston Area’s involvement with the US Navy.  Stanley Bleifeld also has another Navy statue that overlooks the Cooper River in the same vicinity.  Can you name this additional statue?

I’ve always loved that statue. I’ve taken pictures up there before so I will stay out of it.

It’s The Lone Soldier. I think I even like it better than The Homecoming.

It’s the Lone “Sailor” but CJ, I think that’s what you meant! It definitely is a classic pose regardless. Thanks for the comments!
