It’s Buy Local Week!
Low Country Local First has invited you to make a difference in the community by participating in the 3rd annual “Buy Local Week.” Switching your spending habits to include more locally owned business can have a remarkable impact on our community. According to LLF, if everyone in the tri-county area shifted 10% of their annual budget from non-local businesses to local independents we would generate $140 Million in new economic activity, $50 Million in new wages and 1,600 new jobs. That’s a serious impact! In fact, this past January the Commerce Department reported that overall retail sales were down 9.8% for holiday sales compared to 2007. But those communities with Buy Local initiatives, local independent retail sales were only down 3.2%.
To Help celebrate the occasion a whole week of activities has been planed for you enjoyment. The festivities began last night and continue all week with some great event each nights.
