It’s Buy Local Week!

December 2, 2009

Low Country Local First has invited you to make a difference in the community by participating in the 3rd annual “Buy Local Week.” Switching your spending habits to include more locally owned business can have a remarkable impact on our community. According to LLF, if everyone in the tri-county area shifted 10% of their annual budget from non-local businesses to local independents we would generate $140 Million in new economic activity, $50 Million in new wages and 1,600 new jobs.  That’s a serious impact! In fact, this past January the Commerce Department reported that overall retail sales were down 9.8% for holiday sales compared to 2007.  But those communities with Buy Local initiatives, local independent retail sales were only down 3.2%.

To Help celebrate the occasion a whole week of activities has been planed for you enjoyment. The festivities began last night and continue all week with some great event each nights. For more information of the events or tickets, visit their buy local page at http://www.lowcountrylocalfirst.org/events/Buy_Local_Week
